COOK - TEMPORARY POSITION

SpaceX is looking for passionate, experienced individuals looking to join our culinary team! Daily tasks will focus on food preparation, setup, and the operation of a station at one of our various food outlets, according to leadership’s specifications. The Cook position supports SpaceX’s success by providing quality food options that boost morale and productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Complete daily prep tasks

+ Ensure consistency and compliance with the restaurant’s recipes regarding portioning, cooking, and waste control guidelines

+ Provide courteous and informative customer service in an “open kitchen” format

+ Follow restaurant guidelines concerning guest services, food and physical safety, maintenance, and equipment/space cleaning requirements at all times

+ Maintain a clean and safe workstation

POSITION DETAILS:

This is atemporaryposition with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.

+ LENGTH OF POSITION: 3 months (permanent hire conversion based on performance and business need)

+ LOCATION: Brownsville, TX

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

+ 2+ years of experience in the food service industry

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

+ Restaurant experience

+ High volume experience

+ Experience with a daily changing menu

+ Possession of or willingness to obtain a food handlers card or equivalent

+ High level of professionalism

+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Ability to work all shifts and available for overtime and weekends, as needed

+ Stand: Up to 10 hours per day

+ Sit: Up to 3 hours per day

+ Push/Pull: Up to 50lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day

+ Overhead reach: Up to 1 hour per day

+ Walk: Up to 3 hours per day

+ Lift/Carry: Up to 25lbs. (unassisted) 2 hours or longer per day

+ Climb (ladder/stairs): Up to 1 hour per day

+ Kneel/Crouch: Up to 6 hours per day

+ Upper body twist: Up to 1 hour per day

+ Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees up to 1 hour per day

+ Candidate must be capable of safely performing the physical requirements of the job listed in the job description. Candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment questionnaire and/or physical to confirm these capabilities, which may include a medical history review.
