Job Description
The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team providing technical and engineering services to USN Air Traffic Control Systems. As part of our Material Reutilization Team, you will be tasked with dismantling various types of radar systems to ensure the property can be either modernized, reused, or disposed of.
You will perform your work in accordance with established work instructions, schematics, wire lists and engineering drawings. You may attend BAE Systems provided training for cable fabrication, circuit card repair, and other courses that may be pertinent to tasking.
You will be required to use personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection and use hazardous materials such as grease, oil, epoxies, and cleaning compounds.
Physical requirements of this job include:
Periods of standing, sitting and bending
Climbing ladders and stairs
Lifting/moving of materials weighing up to 40 lbs.
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $22.92/hr (Tech I) and $25.72/hr (Tech II). Job level will be determined at the time of interview.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County, near to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
High School diploma or equivalent
Some experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude
Knowledge and use of common hand tools
Ability to read and understand assembly drawings
Ability to successfully complete BAE Systems training for circuit card repair and cable fabrication certifications as required.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Some college coursework completed
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
