Dispatcher – First Student (Serving Memphis-Shelby County School District)

**Location:** Memphis, TN

**Schedule:** Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 5:30 PM

**Pay:** $21/hour

We’re looking for a dedicated **Dispatcher** to join our Memphis-Shelby County School District team. This role ensures on-time route performance, effective communication between staff and customers, and smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

+ Coordinate and oversee all bus routes and schedules to ensure on-time service.

+ Serve as the primary communication liaison with contracted customers and internal teams.

+ Manage heavy phone and radio traffic, dispatching drivers and responding to issues quickly.

+ Counsel, coach, and support drivers and monitors to ensure exceptional performance.

+ Handle scheduling and driver concerns, escalating to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager as needed.

+ Assist with charter reservations, billing, and driver payroll when necessary.

+ Resolve drop-off and pick-up challenges with professionalism and efficiency.

+ Perform back-up driver or clerical duties as required.

+ Support day-to-day operational supervision and complete special projects as assigned.

Required Experience & Skills

+ 3–5 years of related experience (dispatch, operations, or transportation preferred).

+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ Basic knowledge of radio dispatch systems and related equipment.

+ Strong communication and customer service abilities.

+ Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

+ Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and dispatching software preferred).

+ Must pass DOT drug testing and physical exam. _Note: DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not permit the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason._
