Responsibilities

Our Family Medicine Clinic in Altoona, IA, is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our patient-centered healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate, detail-oriented professional who provides high-quality clinical and administrative support to ensure the best possible patient experience.

+ Assist providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.

+ Obtain and record vital signs, medical histories, and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).

+ Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the provider.

+ Prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain clinical supplies.

+ Perform basic laboratory tests and specimen collection.

+ Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and provide patient education.

+ Ensure compliance with clinic policies, OSHA, HIPAA, and other healthcare regulations.

+ Collaborate with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to deliver coordinated patient care.

Qualifications

+ Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program required.

+ Must hold one of the following active certifications:

+ CCMA (NHA) – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, National Healthcareer Association

+ CMA (AAMA) – Certified Medical Assistant, American Association of Medical Assistants

+ CMA-NCCT – Certified Medical Assistant, National Center for Competency Testing

+ CMA-NCMA – Certified Medical Assistant, National Certified Medical Assistant

+ NRCMA (NAHP) – Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant, National Association of Health Professionals

+ RMA (AMT) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Medical Technologists

+ RMA (AAH) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Allied Health

+ RMA (ARMA) – Registered Medical Assistant, American Registry of Medical Assistants

+ Current CPR/BLS certification required.

+ Previous experience in a family medicine or primary care setting preferred.

+ Excellent communication, organizational, and patient service skills.

+ Experience using EPIC a plus!
