The mission of the Sidewalk Program is to support the agency’s goal by providing for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people by making sidewalks safe and accessible for all pedestrians.
Due to the increased volume of defective sidewalk complaints and increased Capital Budget for Prior Notice Sidewalk Contracts, Pedestrian Ramp Upgrade Contracts, In-house construction, etc., significant senior inspection related tasks are required. An Associate Highway and Sewer inspector is required to supervise staff responsible for responding to defective complaints, assisting with the management and audit for inspection submittals, delegating cost estimates and surveys, attending high level site visits, and performing complex inquiry related inspections. Tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Instruct and train assigned Apprentice Highway and Sewer Inspectors.
- Assign complaint locations and surveys to subordinate staff.
- Assist and advise subordinate staff on difficult problems and resolves concerns
- Audit employee performance and adherence to directives
- Maintain staff productivity records and may prepare comprehensive reports of complaint closure, outstanding inquiries, etc.
- May perform mark-outs and cost estimates for construction.
- Perform site visit evaluations, inspections, and surveys.
- Evaluate defective areas in need of reports, calculates defective sq. ft., identify construction obstacles, etc. as needed.
- May be required to appear as a witness in court when ordered.
ASSOCIATE INSPECTOR (HIGHWAYS - 31645
Qualifications
1. Six years of full-time paid experience in the construction and/or repair of roads and sewers, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; or
2. Four years of experience, as described in "1" above, at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, plus two years of education in an accredited college or technical school in a program specializing in the construction or repair of roads and sewers, or education toward a baccalaureate degree in Engineering, Architecture or Engineering Technology with a specialization in the area of roads or sewers; or
3. At least one year of experience, as described in "1" above, which must have been in a supervisory capacity, plus completion of an approved five year apprenticeship program in highway or sewer inspection; or
4. Completion of three years of apprenticeship in highway or sewer inspection plus either three years of experience as described in "1" above, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity, or one year of experience as described in "1" above, which must have been in a supervisory capacity and two years of education as described in "2" above; or
5. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", "3", or "4" above.
All candidates must have one year of experience as described in "1" above, which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Salary Max: $ 86,664.00
