    Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Luke AFB Fitness Center on Luke AFB, AZ. this is a Flexible position, no benefits. Responsibilities Under the direction of the supervisor, evaluates and provides and customizes fitness programs for individuals to achieve their personal fitness goals. Provides education and guidance on proper nutrition, cardiovascular exercise, resistance training and other programs. Offers advise in designing personal training programs. Instructs or coaches groups and/or individuals in exercise activities. Designs techniques and implements, assess, and conduct individual and group exercises and fitness programs. Specializing in the physical aspects of a comprehensive fitness program. Assists with directing the AF Fitness Improvement Programs (AF FIP) for Active duty and prepares individuals to meet applicable military, physical, weight and strength standards. Conducts fitness assessments by using Ergo-meter Systems, writes appropriate exercise prescriptions and teaches personalized exercise programs. Evaluates health history questionnaires, rick factors, health behaviors, and physician's releases. Makes referrals to tother health professionals as needed to aid in making specific behavioral changes. Schedules group exercises classes for both individual and group squadron exercise programs. Provides instruction to group exercise leader/volunteers on proper exercise procedures for flexibility, cardiovascular and strength exercises. Observes participants and informs them of corrective actions necessary to improve. Assists individuals in making positive lifestyle changes using self-monitoring tools such as journals, fitness logs, exercise forms, and nutritional food analysis forms to track progress. Motivates individuals to modify negative health habits and maintain positive lifestyle behaviors for health promotion. Assist in enforcing procedures for the proper use resistance and cardiovascular equipment. Maintains files on each client and monitors participants' progress and adapts programs as needed. Demonstrates proper use, methods, procedures, and safety techniques of equipment to patrons. Issues equipment and completes required documentation for transaction. Inspects Returned equipment, noting any damages. Inspects all equipment and facilities daily according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged equipment to supervisor. Conducts minor repairs and cleaning of machines as necessary. May perform facility opening and closing procedures. Assists in setting up programs and special functions. Administer first aid as necessary. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have at least 2 years' experience in planning, implementing, and conducting safe and effective cardiovascular and strength conditioning programs and fitness assessments. Work experience must include knowledge of exercise science including kinesiology, functional anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, program administration, psychology, and injury prevention. Must have ability to prescribe safe exercise programs based on participants' fitness level and goals and ability to consult with clients and assess past fitness experience, health history, goals and current fitness status using a variety of fitness tests. Must have ability to communicate, instruct and interact effectively with individuals in a Fitness setting. A Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research, American College of Sports Medicine, or other DOD or recognizes personal trainer certifications is required. Continuing educational course of study directly related to fitness intervention (IE. BS degree in Health and Exercise Science, Physical Education) or other related field may be submitted for some experience and training. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
