UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station. The ResNet Director plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation and security of the network infrastructure that supports UNC Housing. This position involves overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of the network systems that facilitate internet access, digital communication, and various online resources essential for academic and personal use by the residents, as well as the Housing professional staff. With a keen focus on user experience, the Director addresses technical issues, manages network upgrades, and incorporates new technologies to meet the evolving needs of students and staff. They work closely with central IT professionals, housing administrators, and external vendors to ensure the network’s reliability, speed, and security. This position is a leadership role with dual reporting structure to Housing and ITS . The Director provides strategic vision and leadership related to technology in the department. Key responsibilities include: + Manages 4 full-time employees and 50 student employees + Provides on-site residential support, oversees technology and technology support for the Housing Department. This includes 600 employees in the department spread across 50 buildings on campus. + Manages complex projects impacting over 8,500 individuals on campus. Coordinates with outside groups to complete these projects in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner. + Oversees the operational budget. Provides budget forecasting. + Leads necessary procurement activities, including RFPs, contracts, risk assessments, and implementation planning. + Oversees complex IT systems and custom-coded applications in support of the Housing Department.
