This position will support our new and existing patients on a crucial part of their cancer journey within our boutique of Hope. Responsibilities to include fitting for bra's and compression garments post surgically, as well as wigs. They will also assist with scheduling, insurance verification, inventory, billing, and cash register functions.
Hours: 4 days per week 8a-4p

Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the Banner Gateway campus including designation as a Stem Cell Transplant Center of Excellence and comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care. Our capabilities include five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 70 infusion bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient, where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via two-way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient care.
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for fitting patients with prosthetic breast forms and/or other durable medical equipment (DME) and to ensure successful fitting outcomes. The position is also responsible for performing other processes related to DME fittings and assisting with general boutique operation.
CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assists patients in properly fitting prosthetic breast forms and/or related products which may include but not limited to mastectomy bras, cranial prosthesis and compression garments. Educates patients on the use and maintenance of products. Provides bedside fittings, as needed, for post mastectomy/lumpectomy patients.
2. Provides assistance to patients with the selection and education related to specialty items, such as bras, skin care products, protective clothing and hair alternatives.
3. Obtains required patient and insurance information for pre-registration, benefit verification and pre-authorization. Verifies that prescription information is complete and accurate. Schedules fitting appointments in system.
4. Completes assessment notes on patient records. Posts charges for durable medical equipment (DME) and other applicable medical products in the system.
5. Assists with the ordering and receiving of durable medical equipment (DME) and other related products.
6. May assist with purchasing of retail merchandise and durable medical equipment. May assist with sales and general operations including inventory, merchandise display and customer service. May assists in the planning and development of department actions to achieve department/service goals.
7. Assists with training of staff and volunteers to perform the work required to achieve identified goals of the department.
8. Provides in-service training and external presentations, when necessary, to medical staff and/or community organizations regarding products and services available to assist patients through treatment and recovery.
9. This position has responsibility for interacting with patients, families, physicians, and staff in various departments throughout the facility and organization. External contacts may include employees of other healthcare organizations, community providers and agencies concerning the health care of the patient. Also interacts with the physician offices in order to report, inquires or clarify information.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Current certification as a Mastectomy Fitter. Associate's Degree preferred. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. Prior experience in healthcare, including familiarity with Medicare and private insurance companies is preferred for certain assignments.
Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
