    Job Title: Government Relations Intern

     

    Job Location: Arlington, VA

     

    The selected candidate will become familiar with the aerospace and defense industry, as well as the L3Harris Government and Customer Relations team’s role in shaping congressional, executive branch, and thought leadership priorities and policy. The intern will have opportunities to learn more about policy, budgets, and regulations that impact domestic operations and our foreign customers. Preference will be given to candidates able to work full time; however those able to commit to 3 or more full days per week should still apply. This is an in-person role in Arlington, VA, and candidates must be located in the greater Washington, DC area.

    Job Description:

    + Research and summarize budget documents, government funding data and contract award information, as well as industry press releases and recent news

    + Summarize relevant congressional hearings, executive branch reports, think tank webinars, and defense-industry events

    + Research and track legislation from key congressional committees, including the Appropriations, Armed Services, Science, and Foreign Relations committees

    + Draft preparatory materials for company executives, including biographies, agendas, and talking points documents

    + Develop valuable skills, network, and gain exposure to Capitol Hill, the Department of War (DoW), the State Department (DoS), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as well as government affairs, Political Action Committees (PACs), regulation, and legislation supporting the national security domain

    + Support Government Relations team initiatives, events, and other activities and assignments as needed

    Qualifications:

    + To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, National Security, or related field

    Preferred Skills:

    + Strong analytical, writing, interpersonal, and communication skills

    + Interest in defense, space, aerospace, national security, government, international cooperation, and legislative affairs

    + Experience working in a Congressional or Executive Branch office

     

    In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is [$52,000.00 MIN - $97,760.00 MAX]. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is [$45,760.00 MIN - $84,240.00 MAX].. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
