Zions is seeking a **_Compliance Manager_** to join the Compliance Assurance Program (CAP) team within Compliance Risk Management (CRM). Compliance risk is inherent in all bank products, services and activities, and the effective management of compliance risks is a fundamental element of regulatory risk management. The CAP department within CRM, is a second line of defense function that performs independent and objective reviews of business processes, functions, and departments to determine the effectiveness of internal controls in managing compliance risks.
The Compliance Manager role is expected to oversee the planning and execution of compliance testing engagements, provide expert guidance to team members, collaborate with stakeholders across the company, and drive continuous improvement in our compliance program’s effectiveness and efficiency. Your leadership will be critical in maintaining our institution’s reputation for integrity and regulatory excellence.
Responsibilities:
+ Develops and coordinates resources for engagement teams, ensuring effective allocation and utilization.
+ Leads the review and interpretation of laws and regulations, determining their relevance to business processes, functions, and departments under compliance review.
+ Guides and supports junior staff in testing policies, procedures, contracts, and agreements to confirm alignment with regulatory requirements.
+ Verifies that bank products and services comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
+ Serves as a liaison between compliance risk management and engagement stakeholders, facilitating communication throughout compliance review activities.
+ Establishes engagement plans and defines audit objectives to support effective compliance assessments.
+ Coordinates and ensures the availability of resources across the Compliance Assurance function.
+ Conducts quality assurance and quality control for compliance assurance processes to maintain high standards.
+ Collaborates with management to resolve issues and address identified deficiencies in compliance practices.
+ Provides subject matter expertise on compliance risk for company projects and strategic initiatives.
+ Monitors stakeholder inquiries and prepares timely, accurate responses as needed.
+ Manages budgeting and forecasting for compliance engagements and related activities.
+ Performs additional duties as assigned to support the overall compliance program.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CRCM, CAMS) preferred.
+ Minimum of 6 years’ experience in compliance, risk management, or internal audit within the financial services industry.
+ Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, including federal and state banking laws, and proven ability to interpret and apply them to business operations.
+ Demonstrated experience developing and executing audit plans, conducting compliance assessments, and implementing process improvements.
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Effective communicator with the ability to present complex compliance issues to senior management and stakeholders.
+ Ability to work collaboratively across departments and lead cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
+ Proficiency in TeamMate+ audit management software and Microsoft Office Suite; experience with data analytics tools is a plus.
+ Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines under pressure.
+ Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding the highest ethical standards.
