    UPMC is hiring a Casual Pediatric Sonographer to join the team at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh!

     

    In this role, you'll enjoy the opportunity to grow professionally in a supportive, patient-focused environment. Our casual sonographers are required to work a minimum of one shift per week and participate in a rotating on-call schedule, including overnight Saturday coverage.

     

    Daylight weekend shifts may also be scheduled to support vacation coverage or time-off requests for core weekend team members. In addition, all sonographers select holiday shifts annually to ensure balanced coverage.

    Responsibilities:

    + Covers call and off-shifts on a rotational basis.

    + Performs a variety of technical ultrasound procedures to assist in a patient's medical diagnosis.

    + Displays knowledge of equipment operations, anatomy, and scanning techniques resulting in optimized image data/documentation.

    + Documents and considers patient history, laboratory data, and physical findings.

    + Ensures all exams are properly coded and networked through appropriate systems, and ensures all charges are correct for exams performed.

    + Assists with training staff, student sonographers, and physicians.

    + May be responsible for High Level Disinfection of devices, supplies, and/or equipment.

    + Demonstrates ability to interact with both patients and co-workers, displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.

    + Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required, or RDMS registered.

    + 2 years of ultrasound experience preferred.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + RDMS Registered or registry eligible.

    + Must have completed Physics portion of registry.

    + Must obtain RDMS in Pediatric Ultrasound within 24 months of hire date.

    + Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI Clearances with renewal

    + CPR or BLS preferred.

    + CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
