Job Summary
Diagnostic Radiology & Recovery Nursing provides nursing support for the Diagnostic Imaging divisions in Radiology (CT, Ultrasound, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Breast Imaging, Cross Sectional procedures), pre- and post-procedure care for Interventional Radiology procedure patients and provides Radiology support at multiple Michigan Medicine ambulatory care sites. Patient populations range in age from pediatric to geriatric, and include inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory care sites. Nursing staff in this unit provide focused, episodic care, from pre-op prep, to intra-procedural monitoring and administration of sedation/analgesia, to post-op recovery and patient/family education related to radiological exams and/or interventional procedures, and responding to emergency care calls in all areas of Radiology.

Responsibilities*
+ Assist the Clinical Nursing Director in planning, coordinating and managing the clinical and administrative operations of Diagnostic Radiology Department areas within University Hospital, Von Voigtlander Women?s and Children?s Hospital, ACU Radiology Sites, and D. Dan and Betty Kahn Pavilion. This includes supervising nursing and assistive personnel. Participating in managing budgets, payroll, commodities, staffing, staff reviews, participation in the implementation of patient care and quality assurance standards; and planning, organizing and evaluating diagnostic, pre-procedural and recovery practices and educational activities.
+ Plan, assign and supervise the work of Interventional Radiology nursing and support staff; serve as contact person for physicians on issues such as status of cases, opening up rooms to add on cases, etc.
+ Provide clinical direction, procedural support in all areas of IR, providing care to patient populations across the age continuum, including infants, pediatric, adolescent and/or adult patient populations.
+ Provide direct clinical nursing care, serving as clinical resource to unit staff.
+ Actively participate in orienting, precepting and supporting clinical staff; provide periodic review and feedback to unit staff.
+ Provide supervision, counseling, coaching, discipline and evaluation of unit staff.
+ Participate in new program development and implementation
+ To participate in planning, organizing and evaluating patient care standards, guidelines and educational activities for both patients and staff.
+ Lead and participate in continuous quality improvement programs.
+ Fosters a culture of patient and family centered care by creating a positive and caring experience with every interaction. Recognizes Internal and External customers and continually looks for ways to improve service for Internal and External customers.
+ Required to regularly provide patient care as needed.
+ Share call rotation with Clinical Nursing Director for off hours as a resource for clinical and operational issues.
Required Qualifications*
Required Educational Requirement:
Applicant must meet one of the following:
+ Bachelors degree in Nursing **OR** Associates degree or diploma in Nursing and a Masters degree in Nursing
+ Minimum five (5) years RN experience.
+ Minimum two (2) years of recent (within the last 5 years) RN experience in ED, IR, ICU, PACU SWAT or Survival Flight. Experience caring for radiology patients strongly preferred.
+ Nurse Leadership certification or completion within one (1) year of accepting this position or when eligible to certify, whichever comes first. Certification is expected to be maintained while in this leadership role. Examples include Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) or, Nurse Executive (NE-BC). Certifications must be recognized by the Magnet Recognition Program and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC.)
+ Demonstrated leadership ability including; charge nurse, team leader, professional development framework, or other management experience
+ ACLS and Red Bag certification required within 6 months.

Desired Qualifications*
+ Prior nursing management experience.
+ Radiology nursing experience.
+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with administrators, physicians, peers and subordinates

+ Competence in the clinical environment, providing clinical and procedural knowledge
+ Demonstrated ability to mentor and precept clinical nursing staff.

+ Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
+ Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
Work Schedule
Hours: 40SHIFT: Monday- Friday, primarily Evening shift with flexible start times to meet the needs of the unitLocation: Diagnostic Radiology University Hospital, Von Voigtlander Women's and Children's Hospital, ACU Radiology sites, and D.
