    Biweekly Hours:** **64.00

     

    Shift:** **3-4 days/wk M-F, as scheduled on day shift (7a-3:30p) with rotating weekends/holidays on second shift (3p-11:30p)

    Summary:

    Performs a variety of duties in support of Clinical Pathology and Anatomic including but not limited to: processing patient specimens correctly and accurately; accessioning in Lab Information System/Health Information System (LIS/HIS); verifying orders, bar codes, labels, and aliquots; distributing patient samples; verifying sample acceptability and retrieval. Performs patient registration and clerical duties as necessary. Adheres to hospital guidelines, safety and regulatory requirements and quality control standards.     Qualifications:

    Required:

    HS Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam.

    Strong knowledge of basic medical terminology.

    Solid problem solving skills.

    Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

    Basic personal computer skills.

    Preferred:

    2 years of experience in laboratory processing.

    Basic knowledge of Phlebotomy.

    Ability to type 25 wpm.

    Physical Requirements:

    May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.

    May need to sit or stand for extended periods.

    See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

    Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

    Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.

    Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.

    Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.

    Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.

    Requires some exposure to chemicals.
