    Job Summary

    The Department of Cell & Developmental Biology (CDB) at the University of Michigan Medical School (Ann Arbor) is seeking a highly-driven scientist to work as a ResearchInvestigator.The ideal candidate will be supervised by the Principal Investigator in a cell biology and virology laboratory that studies the basic mechanisms of protein quality control, as well as the cellular infection mechanisms of DNA and RNA viruses.

    Responsibilities*

    The ideal candidate will lead a program focused on clarifying how the human papillomavirus (HPV) hijacks the intracellular retrograde transport pathway to cause infection. In this leadership position, the candidate will: 1) conduct their own individual research projects; 2) mentor graduate students and research technicians; 3) help in generating data for manuscripts and grant applications; and 4) write and submit their own grant applications as a step to acquire an independent position.

    Modes of Work

     

    Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment.     Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
