Summary:
+ Position Summary: Assists healthcare providers in utilizing drug therapy safely and effectively through medication prescription review and fulfillment, patient monitoring and patient education. Supervises pharmacy interns, students and technicians in their tasks, and verifies all work completed by those personnel. Patient care includes care to patients in all age groups.
+ Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties:
+ Interprets and evaluates all medication prescriptions and assures for safe and effective medication, dose, route and schedule for administration with clarification as deemed necessary.
+ Reviews prescriptions and suggests alternate therapies as appropriate. Demonstrates this activity by preparing clinical intervention documentation.
+ Prepares and dispenses medications in accordance with professional practice guidelines, state pharmacy laws, and regulatory standards in addition to departmental policies and procedures.
+ Advises the provider and patient regarding the contents, therapeutic action, utilization and possible adverse reactions or interactions of medication.
+ Performs computer order entry functions as assigned.
+ Controls the disposition of narcotics, other controlled substances, and dangerous drugs as required by state and federal regulations.
+ Actively participates in medication safety programs. Active participation is defined as identifying opportunities to improve safety reporting errors and adverse drug events , and implementing system-based changes as a result of those opportunities.
+ Serves as a role model of customer service by responding constructively to the needs of hospital staff. Responding constructively is defined as using a respectful communication style that is consistent with professional collaboration.
+ The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
+ Serves as a training resource for new employees and assists in evaluating their progress; may assist in preparing work schedules, setting work priorities and making work assignments as directed. Mentors pharmacy students in applicable educational experiential training programs.
+ Responds to drug information and poison information requests as required.
+ Prepares dosette and cassette boxes, usually for the elderly but also for those with memory learning difficulties, where tablets are placed in compartments for specified days of the week
+ Provides specialist health check services, such as measuring and fitting compression hosiery, monitoring blood pressure and cholesterol levels, diabetes screening and pregnancy testing
+ Selling healthcare and other products, such as toiletries and cosmetics. Promoting sales and developing the business.
Responsibilities:
+ Minimum Required Qualifications:
+ B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm D required.
+ Current Pharmacist licensure or eligible to reciprocate in the State of Pennsylvania required.
+ Immunization certification through an accredited organization American Pharmacists Association APhA .
+ A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.
+ Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred.

+ A large portion of this position required reliance on verbal memory and new learning. Efficiency in processing of verbal information, either in written or spoken form, is a major requirement and prerequisite of the job. The individual must be able to attend to and process multiple bits of information simultaneously. The individual must be able to organize and categorize this information effectively so that later recall is feasible.
+ Problem Solving, Reasoning and Creative Thinking: The following level of ability that is essential for the jobholder to think in order to solve a problem by combining two or more elements from past experience or imaginative thought:
+ The position requires much autonomy of thought and problem solving. The individual must be able to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems. The individual must be able to think abstractly, which is manifested in the ability to form concepts, use categories, generalize from single instances, apply procedural rules and general principles, and be aware of subtle or intrinsic aspects of a problem. The development of hypothesis and potential solutions to problems involves careful interpretation, analysis and diagnosis. The individual must be able to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The individual must be able to think creatively with a degree of inventiveness, experimentation and intuition. They must be able to deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables.
