Job Summary
We’re looking for a creative and motivated University of Utah student to join our University Advancement team as a Videographer. In this role, you’ll help tell the university’s philanthropic story through compelling video content that engages alumni, donors, parents, and the broader community.
From filming campus events and interviews to editing short-form content for social media, you’ll play a key role in showcasing the impact of giving at the U. This role is perfect for a student who loves storytelling through video and wants to build their professional portfolio while supporting meaningful work on campus.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Video Production & Editing
* Capture high-quality video at campus events, interviews, and campaign activities.
* Edit video content for social media platforms (Instagram Reels, YouTube, etc.)
* Create highlight reels, testimonials, and campaign videos that align with brand style and goals.
* Ensure all videos are optimized for web and mobile use.
Content Strategy & Storytelling
* Collaborate with the communications and social media team to brainstorm video concepts.
* Help bring stories of students, alumni, and donors to life through visual storytelling.
* Assist in aligning video content with campaign and event themes.
Event Coverage
* Provide video coverage for special events, philanthropic campaigns, and campus activities.
* Capture both polished footage and behind-the-scenes moments for digital use.
* Work occasional evenings or weekends to cover events as needed.
Collaboration & Support
* Work closely with the Social Media Coordinator and marketing team on integrated campaigns.
* Assist with organizing and managing video assets for ongoing use.
* Contribute creative ideas to expand the reach and impact of video content.
* Support creation of social media or marketing content/creatives as needed.
* Serve as a backup to the team during events, assisting with coverage and execution.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
Current University of Utah student majoring in communication or related field.
+ Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Must be available to work some evenings for events or weekends as needed.
+ Experience with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut or similar).
+ Knowledge of camera equipment, lighting, and filming techniques (preferred, but training can be provided).
+ Familiarity with social media platforms and short-form video trends.
+ Basic experience using design software and social media platforms is a plus.
+ Strong communication and organizational skills.
