    Your Opportunity

    Stantec is seeking a Entry-Level Geologist for our Des Moines office to support our growing portfolio of work in the Midwest. You will work closely with and under the guidance and supervision of a local Professional Geologist to complete tasks and smaller projects, as well as have opportunities as a team member of larger projects throughout the Midwest.

     

    Your Key Responsibilities

     

    - Develop and implement work plans for soil and groundwater remediation and environmental compliance projects.

     

    - Support other disciplines or professions with the execution of soil, soil vapor, and groundwater investigation projects under the direction of a senior professional geologist.

     

    - Oversee drilling contractors conducting soil boring advancement and well installation activities.

     

    - Complete geological logs and subsequent cross-sections, figure or site plan preparation.

     

    - Conduct groundwater and surface water sampling, monitoring and testing activities.

     

    - Assist with onsite construction observation, contractor coordination, and daily reports.

     

    - Conduct due diligence investigations and reporting

     

    - Summarize soil and groundwater field and laboratory data and assist with interpretations.

     

    - Prepare and review technical reports including compilation of historical information and field generated data.

     

    - Act as liaison between clients, contractors, regulatory officials and third parties on project sites.

     

    - Exhibit a working understanding of health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE) policies and procedures, including client-specific training (as required).

     

    Your Capabilities and Credentials

     

    - Ability to engage in creative and critical thought in order to participate and collaborate in a project team setting.

     

    - Communicate in a professional and positive manner, both in writing and in person, with clients, employees, visitors, and the public at large.

     

    - Recognize when technical problems are developing and collaborate with others to initiate appropriate corrective actions.

     

    - Manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

     

    - Ability to check own work for accuracy and completeness.

     

    - Proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, etc.) and multiple platforms (laptop, tablet, smart phone).

     

    - Detailed-oriented and reliable notetaker.

     

    - Ability to work independently or as part of a team in outdoor settings with frequent lifting and carrying.

     

    - Availability to travel, including overnight travel.

     

    - Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.

     

    - Ability to pass a drug screen

     

    Education and Experience

    Required:

    - Bachelor’s degree in geology or geosciences.

     

    - 1-4 years of experience.

    Preferred:

    - Master’s degree in geologist.
