The Hardware Engineering, Advanced Airframes Department is seeking a Sr. Principal Design Engineer that will be located on site in Tucson, Arizona.
This position will serve as the lead for management of the Technical Data Package on a proprietary program and will be responsible for overseeing the formal release of the program TDP to include all drawings and specifications in time to support major program milestones and long lead material procurement.
The candidate should have extensive knowledge of the document release and configuration management process including Peer Reviews, CAD development and release, drawing standards and check, ERB, and CCB.
What You Will Do
+ You will be responsible for developing and managing a Drawing (Hardware & Specifications) Release Plan with a calendarized baseline release schedule and communicating status to senior program management.
+ You will coordinate interactions with multiple REA’s, RSE’s, ECAD, Design Integrity, IPT leads, CM, Supply Chain and Chief Engineers to evaluate design maturity, track design changes, and understand hardware lead times in order to create the Drawing Release Plan and set priorities for an efficient release process.
+ You will establish and maintain the program peer review process and support release of high-quality models and drawings.
+ The candidate will be responsible for weekly program TDP release metrics and reporting through OTDR and program status.
+ Work with teams to release a compliant production TDP within program budget and cost requirements.
+ Contribute to one or more of our contract-funded and internally funded efforts, each of which is at a different phase of development (proposal, design, and integration/test).
+ Ability to communicate to both Raytheon leadership and the customer community to provide program status, accomplishments, issues, and help needed while influencing the team to ensure program alignment and teamwork.
+ Work with minimal supervision as the responsible project lead.
Qualifications You Must Have
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical design, development, and/or test, preferably defense-related components or systems.
+ Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), basic tolerance analyses, drawing practices and/or interpretation (ASME Y-14.5) for mechanical hardware
+ Experience with military or aerospace or defense specifications and/or industry design standards
Qualifications We Prefer
+ Experience in airframe development, electronics packaging, mechanisms, for missiles or similar applications
+ Ability to solve complex problems
+ Experience coaching, reviewing, and delegating work to lower-level professionals
+ Experience in Computer-aided Design (CAD) using Creo including model check and validation
+ Experience using WindChill products and model database management and product structure via work authorizations (unclassified and proprietary)
+ Experience developing and executing a plan to release a technical data package of mechanical components and subsystems
+ Understanding of the hardware engineering release process including peer reviews and design integrity.
+ Familiarity with Drawing Trees and Indentured Drawing Structures
+ ERB and CCB Process to include Form/Fit/Function assessments and effectivity establishment

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
