In this position...
Create upper steering technical strategies, designs and requirements. Validate requirement additions and changes. Lead and/or support Technical Design Reviews and help guide Application Engineers to high quality and Zero FSA with program launches
Preferred: Expert in Steering Column Systems, I-Shaft Systems and Dash Boots/Bearings.
+ Deliver studies to enhance specifications
+ Deliver technical documents for Market Tests
+ Deliver recommendations for a supplier based on market test results (technical)
+ Lead Technical Design Reviews and approve signoff for Mechanical upper steering system component and vehicle systems. Focus on execution of BIC quality – Zero FSA, Detailed audit and review of systems to insure robust milestone signoffs before Chief signoffs
+ Be an active participant and lead mechanical tech clubs where appropriate
+ Be an available technical resource to D&R engineers to review mechanical design changes, non-compliant test results & problem resolution
+ Help enforce a rigid process for getting core document changes and any deviations approvedEnsure appropriate validation of requirements which include vehicle, system, sub-system, mechanical, including validation of interfaces with interfacing systems
+ Define appropriate Vehicle Validation and Verification test plans for mechanical steering technology to ensure vehicle safety and functionality
+ Technical support for critical issue resolution for in-flight and new steering technologies including launch, Recall, Quality/Field Issues
+ Support Technical Design Reviews for new steering technologies
+ Collaborate with other Steering Technical Experts and Supervisors to deliver world class Steering Systems. Coach, Mentor, and Train engineers
You'll have...
+ History of understanding product performance, conformance requirements, and use of statistics to evaluate performance
+ Expert in developing accelerated test methods and associated evaluation tools
+ 10+ years experience designing upper steering systems, steering systems or related systems
+ Experience in developing durability and accelerated test methods
+ Bachelor in Engineering (Black Belt in Quality or high level aptitude in statistical methods)

+ Thorough understanding of steering technology and system design
+ Experience with strong supplier management of complex mechatronics embedded systems.Technical depth in system, system architecture and mechanical design
+ Advanced problem-solving skills

+ High technical aptitude
+ Demonstrated ability to forge productive relationships, achieve cooperation, and influence priorities of technical experts and other key partners
+ Ability to manage/resolve simultaneous challenging complex technical issues
+ Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution, and management reviews
