    Job Description:

    This incumbent demonstrates consistent application of knowledge and skills in assisting the pharmacist in the execution of appropriate, safe, efficacious, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care. The incumbent participates in many procedural aspects of pharmacy practice under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or technician supervisor and is an integral part of the pharmacy team. This position supports Pharmacy Services in all care locations (i.e., acute, community, ambulatory and specialty).

     

    The position will be a hybrid remote/on site with requirements to go into the office at least once per week. The office is the Home Health office in South Jordan.

    Position Summary

    The Pharmacy Technician Specialist will focus on the accuracy and efficiency of home infusion billing and revenue cycle management. This role requires expertise (or willingness to obtain expertise) in home infusion coding, billing regulations, and payer requirements. The technician will ensure proper charging, resolve billing errors, and support ongoing education and process improvement for the pharmacy team. This position is critical to reducing administrative adjustments, improving revenue capture, and enhancing patient satisfaction through timely and accurate billing.

    Key Responsibilities

    + **Billing & Charging Accuracy:**

    + Apply complex medical billing codes (Per Diem/Kit codes, J-codes, S-codes) across multiple payer benefits (Medicare Parts A, B, D, commercial payers).

    + Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and documentation standards.

    + Maintain and regularly update the charging practice grid based on contract changes and policy updates.

    + Audit billing practices and proactively resolve errors and discrepancies.

    + Collaborate with pharmacy staff to educate and train on current billing policies and procedures.

    + **Revenue Cycle Management:**

    + Monitor and address administrative adjustments, aiming to reduce error rates and lost revenue.

    + Track and resolve open billing and contracting issues.

    + Support audits and reporting, and error tracking.

    + Liaise with external billing partners and internal teams to ensure alignment and resolution of issues.

    + **Process Improvement & Education:**

    + Participate in ongoing training which may including NHIA University and other professional development resources.

    + Stay current with industry best practices, reimbursement tips, and published literature.

    + Contribute to the development and refinement of charging guides and educational materials.

    + **Patient Experience:**

    + Help reduce patient dissatisfaction by ensuring timely and accurate billing.

    + Support resolution of billing issues that impact patient billing timelines.

    Qualifications

    + High School or equivalent is required

    + Current pharmacy technician license applicable to state of practice.

    + Pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or EXCPT or other certifying board and successful registration/certification/licensure with the state of practice as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (not "in-training" or "provisional")

    + Experience in home infusion billing, coding, or revenue cycle management highly desirable.

    + Strong understanding of medical billing codes and payer requirements.

    + Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

    + Ability to work collaboratively across teams and communicate complex billing concepts.

    + Willingness to pursue ongoing education and certification in home health revenue cycle.

    + Current knowledge of state and federal regulations and statutes regarding the practice of pharmacy and the distribution of approved drugs, controlled substances, and investigational agents (where applicable).

    + Must be a full-time employee (at least 30 hours per week).

    + Commit to training pharmacy-related learners as the need arises.

    + Submit supporting evidence of completion of requirements for advanced pharmacy technician classification during the Check-In process.

    + Any lapse or failure to meet these requirements may result in disciplinary action, up to termination, at the hiring manager's discretion.

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

     

    $22.25 - $33.88
