    The Product Engineering Director manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval. May be doing involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and function as an intergral member of the functional leadership team within a country/site location, job family, or line of business

    Responsibilities:

    + Ensure team culture consistently demonstrates alignment with leadership principles; visibly ties department decisions to leadership principles

    + Owns long-term strategic view (3-5 years) and complete platform portfolio within his / her category / division

    + Builds strong partnership with the business stakeholders to help drive strategic direction and investment decisions.

    + Owns development and communicates the long-term vision and goals that drive the working backwards strategies for a portfolio of platform products

    + Understands domain and competitive landscape; may lead company-wide decision making for the platform product domain

    + Inspires a culture of “test and learn” experimentation and innovation to solve core business and end customer needs in the platform product domain

    + Leverages customer research, feedback, competitive analysis and industry trends to drive investment choices that will cultivate long-term innovation for the business and customer.

    + Owns “test and learn” roadmap to inform the platform product portfolio

    + Owns the organizational planning and serves as the representative to Executives

    + Compiles content for periodic Exec level communications, reviews and updates

    + Continuously monitors the KPIs of portfolio and reviews regularly with technology peers and business partners

    + Primary interface with the Business and stakeholders

    + Makes trade off decisions for category / division platform product portfolio

    + Owns business and platform requirements for a large enterprise or portfolio of platform products

    + Sets the direction for the platform design for a large enterprise or portfolio of platform products

    + Determines release goals for a large enterprise portfolio of platform products

    + Creates a comprehensive user experience for an entire customer domain using various design thinking techniques

    + Develops method for prioritization and triage of new changes and defects for team to apply, makes key decisions on showstoppers and end product quality

    + Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

    Qualifications:

    + 15+ years of relevant experience in a product line management, e-commerce, and/or strategic planning role.

    + Significant experience building complex business and/or transactional models.

    + Has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products / services in a high growth environment where priorities shift rapidly.

    + Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop business cases.

    + First-class leadership and influencing skills, including experience managing a Product Management Team

    + Demonstrated interpersonal and talent management skills, including the ability to identify and develop product management talent.

    Job Description

    The Product Engineering Director is responsible for defining product strategy , working across Citi to engage applications teams to identity the need for new cloud products and services. The product manager will be responsible for cloud product service lifecycle, and new feature and product roadmaps. The Product Engineering Director will be instrumental in managing all products from design to implementation to ongoing performance monitoring according to business need and ensure that Citi makes appropriate strategic choices in onboarding, managing, and exiting of vendors from the product portfolio. The role requires a talented technologist with experience or working directly with engineering teams to delivery cloud services and products in an iterative, agile way.

    Objectives of this role:

    + Drive the product- and business-planning processes for cross-functional teams (central cloud engineering and application teams)

    + Analyze customer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships in the business to drive the curation of services in cloud

    + Work with application teams to build roadmap for each curated cloud service, manage priority of work into the engineering teams aligned to delivering a curated cloud service

    + Analyze product requirements and develop appropriate product team approach to delivering them

    + Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple departments

    + Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans

    + Create a cohesive delivery function in Citi by joining application teams with central cloud engineering teams and ensuring OKRs are established, executed and measured

    + Be a product evangelist, to drive scaled adoption of released products across Citi

    Required skills and qualifications:

    + Can demonstrate previous experience of leading engineering teams to deliver cloud Infrastructure as Code that build platforms and services in both Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud

    + You will have a Technical engineering back ground, with hands on experience of Terraform, Python, Java and GO

    + Have extensive experience in delivering cloud modernization in large complex global organizations including a good understanding of application architectures, cloud native services and automation.

    + You understand how to build central cloud pipelines, compute and data platforms and can demonstrate where you have successfully led engineering teams to delivery this in your previous roles.

    + You have product engineering leadership experience in previous roles, you are able to define product roadmaps, use your expertise to prioritize work and drive value outcomes and will be able to become a key contributor to Citi's cloud strategy and modernization program

    + 10 years + / Strong experience in a dynamic product management role.

    + Proven success in overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle.

    + High effectiveness in managing cross-functional teams.

    + 10 years + experience of delivering products that leverage cloud services.

    + Proven software delivery experience, working with development teams to drive iterative / continuous deployments.

    + Strong technical understanding of software delivery, cloud native services, providers’ and tools.

    + Demonstrable experience in helping to identify, drive, and facilitate external partnerships that accelerate product usage, effectiveness, and deepen customer adoption and overall success.

    + Extensive track record leading product and engineering teams.

    + Exceptional writing and editing skills, combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills

    + Curious, problem-solving leadership style, demonstrating

    + Able to develop, scale, and continuously cultivate a strong product culture and team, energizing their team members while also holding them accountable to set goals.

    + Align strategy with product performance metrics (KPIs) that reflect capacity, utilization, efficiency, uptime,

    Preferred skills and qualifications:

    + Previous experience in software and web development.

    + Understanding of value stream mapping and how to increase productivity of development teams.

    + Track record of working in financial services or other regulated industries, specifically regarding the leveraging of cloud services.

    + Solid understanding of prioritization methodologies. how to break work down and delivery using a lean approach working on close collaboration with Agile delivery mangers.
