    Ninety-eight percent of the human genome is noncoding and contains regulatory elements that control gene expression and guide human development. These regions play a critical role in health and are frequent sites of genetic alterations linked to diseases such as infections and cancer. The Xie Lab is dedicated to advancing understanding of the structure, dynamics and mechanisms of the human regulatory genome to improve the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of disease. Our research integrates the development of novel molecular tools with super-resolution imaging, high-throughput functional genomics, advanced deep learning and computational methods, and diverse preclinical models. Through this multidisciplinary approach, we aim to uncover the fundamental principles of genome regulation in both health and disease. As a Research Technician on our team, you will perform laboratory techniques and procedures for assigned experimental studies, assist with scheduling analyses and conduct tests utilizing various equipment and instrumentation. You will also compile experimental results for staff, reviewing and managing the ordering of laboratory supplies and equipment.

    This position offers exceptional growth opportunities within a highly interdisciplinary research environment. You will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies in sequencing, imaging and molecular engineering, strengthening both technical and analytical skill sets. This role provides the opportunity to contribute to translational medicine projects, support senior scientists and participate in regular lab operations, with the potential to develop and lead independent research projects over time.

     

    A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Perform laboratory techniques and procedures required for experimental studies.

    + Perform technical lab duties.

    + Schedule and perform various analyses.

    + Assist with establishing and scheduling various procedures and analyses.

    + Prepare reagents, purify chemicals, and identify, separate and quantify various substances.

    + Conduct testing and procedures utilizing laboratory equipment and instrumentation.

    + Accumulate data from analyses.

    + Prepare charts, graphs, statistical tables, publications, grant proposals and applications for research forms.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + High school diploma or GED **and** two years of experience in a research or related laboratory environment

    + **OR** an Associate's degree in a laboratory science field **and** one year of work experience **OR** a Bachelor's degree

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Bachelor's or Associate's degree

    Physical Requirements:

    + Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

    + Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

    + Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

    + Ability to distinguish color

    + Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment

    + Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds

    + May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, bio-hazards, radioactive materials, etc.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum hourly: $18.88

     

    Maximum hourly: $28.80

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
