    Job Overview

     

    TE Connectivity’s Technical Engineering Support Teams analyze, test, and assist in research for the development of products and processes. Team members may specialize in quality control or assurance, chemical manufacturing processes, metals, electrical connectors and components, process development, materials, and/or instrumentation. They may also handle calibration, displays, network control, mold development, audiovisual work, and environmental health and safety. The Technical Engineering Support Teams are responsible for completing assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines. They plan, prioritize, and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritize tasks and assign team members to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met. They evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project. At times, they may work directly with customers to understand needs, gather customer requirements, identify resources, and assess project risks. They create, develop, plan, write, and edit operational, instructional, maintenance, or test procedures for paper, multimedia, or web-based publication, for non-technical and technical users

    THIS POSITION IS 100% ON-SITE AT THE PLYMOUTH, MN FACILITY

    Role Objective:

    TE Medical is currently seeking a Technical Writer who will be responsible for creating and updating manufacturing documentation for Medical products and will report to the Manager of Engineering at their Plymouth, MN facility.

     

    This role requires experience in technical writing and technical illustration, and engineering acumen, to support TE Manufacturing and Quality Engineers, Project Managers, and the Senior Leadership Team of the Medical BU in providing best-in-class engineering solutions for our customers, including high-quality technical documentation. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating and reviewing technical documentation, including manufacturing work instructions, manuals, data sheets, and BOMs. The Technical Writer will also track revisions and edits, maintain and publish manufacturing documentation using document lifecycle management applications.

    Job Requirements

    + Creating, planning, writing, and editing operational instructions, maintenance procedures, or any other manufacturing documentation for both technical and non-technical users.

    + Working on updates and revisions of technical products and process documentation.

    + Assisting the site engineering team in developing customized documents based on customer requests.

    + Creating technical illustrations and customer-specific drawings.

    + Completing and delivering assignments according to priorities and agreed timelines.

    + Collaborating with technical staff, project managers, site leadership, and the operations team.

    + Revising and publishing manufacturing documentation and managing documentation using appropriate tools.

    + Building and maintaining strong relationships across functions to ensure effective communication and foster a collaborative environment for new documentation flow.

    + Working with a team to develop databases for technical documentation, terminology, and manufacturing process controls for easy access and high reuse.

    + Staying current with manufacturing and engineering trends and providing expertise to resolve complex issues.

    + This role will be part of the engineering team, significantly impacting the entire manufacturing facility.

    + A portion of the time for this position will be spent providing a level of administrative support to the site. This may include, but is not limited to:

    + Functioning as Communications Champion to assemble monthly communications, newsletters, and other items that provide updates for the site employees.

    + Manage front desk operations, including greeting visitors

    + Coordinate meeting schedules, room bookings, and facility logistics

    + Maintain office supplies inventory and coordinate procurement

    + Process incoming and outgoing mail and packages

    + Support travel arrangements for staff

    + Maintain electronic and physical filing systems

    + Coordinate with IT support for equipment setup and troubleshooting

    + Manage vendor relationships and coordinate service appointments

    What your background should look like

    + Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of technical experience - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, and experience working in a technical writing position preferred, or an advanced degree without experience or equivalent work experience

    + Experience in creating technical illustrations using 3D CAD

    + Experience in a product data management environment.

    + Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Creo Illustrate, Acrobat, and MS Office; other DTP tools are an advantage.

    + Good communication skills to collaborate with own team, Product Managers, and site leadership team.

    + Ability to handle assignments at short notice

    + Strong attention to detail and precision

    + Technical skills for understanding and explaining highly technical information

    + Well-organized and methodical individual with a structured working style

    + Experience with document management systems is an advantage

    + Knowledge of medical device manufacturing is good to have.

    COMPENSATION

    • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience:$74,700 ($35.91 an hour) - $111,600 ($53.65 an hour)(subject to change dependent on physical location)

    • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity

    • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
