General Summary:
As the Paid leave landscape continues to evolve in the marketplace and in the legislative landscape, there is a significant opportunity to shape the future of paid leave offerings for our clients. This role is pivotal in developing and executing a comprehensive forward-looking strategy that positions us as a leader in the paid leave space.
The incumbent will be responsible for crafting a clear, actionable roadmap to address the diverse needs of our clients. This includes designing a cohesive framework for leave programs, developing plan designs, and a go-to-market plan. Areas of focus include paid family leave, paid sick leave, state mandated disability, corporate leaves and ADA.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Lead strategy and innovation: Define and drive strategic vision, business case, offering design and overall approach for leaves/ADA – statutory and corporate.
+ Market leadership and advocacy: Represent Unum’s leave/ADA offerings in the marketplace, proactively influencing how the market understands and implements paid leave programs. Partner with field and NCG to ensure full understanding of the demands in the marketplace.
+ Stakeholder engagement: Drive internal and external messaging to inform, educate, and influence key stakeholders regarding Unum’s paid leave/ADA offering including policy design/influence with legislators.
+ Industry thought leadership: Engage with industry peers to help influence consistency in state leave laws
+ Cross-functional leadership: Lead a cross-functional team responsible for of resources charged with strategy development and offering design/implementation for paid leaves/ADA to ensure our offering is in line with other strategic priorities
+ End-to-End Ownership: Overall accountability for the implementation and administration of Unum’s paid leave/ADA offering at the statutory and corporate level
+ Team Leadership: Lead a team focused on designing and implementation of our offerings, running operational teams.
+ May perform other duties as assigned
Job Specifications:
+ 5+ years of leadership in Benefits, operations management, and leave / absence management with a strong focus on driving initiatives in a complex environment
+ Demonstrated strategic thinking, planning and organizational skills
+ Demonstrated ability to communicate, influence, and interact effectively at all levels of the organization, ranging from senior leadership to external partners
+ Demonstrated success in leading through change
+ Clear experience in identifying and implementing continuous improvement solutions based on data-driven feedback and performance measures
+ Solid understanding of STD, FMLA, ADA and paid leave plans and approaches as well as insurance industry experience preferred
+ Working knowledge of absence programs and statutory laws
+ Proven ability to mentor, coach and develop high-performing teams. Skilled in partnering with key stakeholders.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$114,100.00-$215,700.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
