A very reputable medical device client of ours is seeking a **Senior Director of Product Development** to lead a high-performing team of over 40 engineers, technicians, and managers responsible for developing next-generation medical devices. This individual will provide strategic direction, foster innovation, and ensure the successful delivery of programs from concept through commercialization.
**Job Title:** Senior Director of Product Development
**Location:** Fridley, MN
**Salary:** 185-225k + bonus
Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead and develop a team of managers and technical professionals across multiple product lines.
+ Oversee the full product development lifecycle—concept generation, design, verification/validation, and transfer to manufacturing.
+ Establish and execute development strategies aligned with company objectives and regulatory requirements.
+ Drive cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations teams to ensure program success.
+ Mentor and build leadership capability within the management team.
+ Manage departmental budgets, timelines, and resource planning.
+ Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biomedical Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
+ **Minimum 12 years of total industry experience** , with at least **7 years in leadership roles** within medical device product development.
+ Proven experience **overseeing managers and large, multidisciplinary teams (40+ staff)** .
+ Strong track record of bringing Class II or III medical devices from concept through commercialization.
+ Deep understanding of FDA, ISO 13485, and design control requirements.
+ Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and organizational leadership skills.
