    Position:

    The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Financial Specialist for the State Office in Boise.

     

    Salary Range: $25.00-28.70

    Responsibilities :

    • Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable/General Ledger:

     

    - Manage and maintain financial records independently.

     

    - Perform data entry transactions and ensure accurate recording of financial data.

     

    - Reconcile accounts by identifying and correcting errors or discrepancies in financial transactions.

     

    - Maintain ledgers, logs, and batch documents to support various accounting processes.

     

    - Provide various monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to program and financial staff.

     

    • Research and Coordination:

     

    - Conduct research on accounting systems and records to identify and correct errors in financial transactions.

     

    - Investigate and resolve accounting issues, reaching out to customers, vendors, and programs when information is missing.

     

    - Meet with programs to address their financial needs and provide necessary documentation or reports.

     

    • Reconciliation:

     

    - Review and verify financial records to maintain consistency and resolve any discrepancies or errors.

     

    - Reconcile program databases with Luma, ensuring all data is accurate and aligned between systems.

     

    - Prepare and review reconciliation reports to support financial accuracy and compliance.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    This position requires proficiency in bookkeeping methods, automated systems, and a strong understanding of financial documentation and reconciliation.

     

    Financial Specialist

    Good knowledge of:

    + Accounting principles and practices

     

    Typically gained by at least four years of professional work experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) OR an Associate degree in Accounting AND at least two years of professional work experience such as an accountant or equivalent.

    Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodations

    • Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time.

    • Ability to bend and reach for filing purposes.

    • Some periods of heavy reading and typing are required.

    • Some travel may be required.
