Description
State of Idaho Opportunity Receptionist (TEMPORARY) - Admin Office Full-time (40 hours) - $12 - $16 per hour D.O.E.
The Idaho State Public Defender (SPD) is a newly created state agency which provides trial representation to indigent criminal defendants pursuant to Idaho Code §§ 19-6005, 19-6009 (effective 10/1/24). The SPD is responsible for all indigent defense cases throughout the State of Idaho, including both juveniles and adults. The SPD values its employees and offers meaningful work that has a direct impact on citizens across the state.
POSITION & RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary purpose of the Receptionist is to provide front-line customer service in person and/or by telephone to refer customers to the appropriate office or staff. This position supports the Office of the State Public Defender in meeting its core goal: providing zealous, holistic representation.
This is a 5-month temporary, non-benefitted position that reports to the Operations Director for SPD functions .
Example of Duties
+ Serve as the first point of contact by welcoming and assisting visitors in a friendly and professional manner;
+ Manage a multi-line phone system: answer incoming calls, route inquiries, take messages, and provide helpful information;
+ Identify customer needs and connect them with the appropriate staff or department;
+ Maintain accurate records and support basic office operations including data entry, filing, and document handling;
+ Support outgoing and incoming mail distribution and other routine administrative functions; and
+ Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience answering business telephones using proper etiquette and professional communication
+ Ability to greet and assist customers in person and by phone in a business environment
+ Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive information
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience operating a multi-line phone system
+ Ability to access and update information using a computerized records system
PREFERRED START DATE & WORK HOURS
+ As soon as possible
+ Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (with 1 hour lunch break)
