The Soil Testing Laboratory Worker - contract- 3-4 months - is responsible for performing laboratory analyses of soil samples to determine their physical and chemical properties. This role supports agricultural, environmental, and construction projects by providing accurate, timely soil data that informs land use decisions and soil management. The technician operates lab equipment, maintains testing standards, records detailed results, and collaborates with agronomists, scientists, and client representatives.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Perform routine laboratory tests on soil samples, including analysis of pH, nutrient content (NPK), organic matter, moisture, and contaminants.
+ Prepare and process soil samples following established protocols to ensure accuracy and quality control.
+ Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
+ Accurately record, analyze, and report soil test results according to regulatory and company standards.
+ Assist in the preparation of soil test reports and provide technical data to support agronomic recommendations.
+ Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment.
+ Collaborate with field staff for sample collection logistics and verify sample integrity.
+ Participate in ongoing training to stay current on soil testing methodologies and laboratory best practices.
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, or related field preferred.
+ Experience in laboratory testing, ideally with soil or agricultural samples.
+ Knowledge of soil chemistry, laboratory procedures, and instrumentation.
+ Strong attention to detail with excellent record-keeping and analytical skills.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Good communication skills for coordinating with colleagues and clients.
+ Physical ability to manage soil samples and perform repetitive tasks in a lab setting.shifts typically from 8 am to 6 pm
**Pay Details:** $16.00 to $17.00 per hour
