Job Title: Construction Materials Technician

Job Description

The Construction Materials Field Technician (CMT) is tasked with conducting on-site testing of concrete, soil, and other construction materials. The role involves using a company-provided vehicle to travel to various job sites within the area.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete on construction materials testing project sites.

+ Execute tasks based on project requirements under the guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.

+ Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment following industry standards and compliance.

+ Perform project-specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.

+ Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete) and provide assessment of data through reporting.

+ Work utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams.

+ Make detailed observations and offer limited interpretation of results.

+ Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.

+ Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.

+ Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.

+ Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

+ Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; may assist with calculations, drafting, and other administrative duties as requested.

+ Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers.

+ Communicate changing site conditions and additional requested testing to a supervisor; attend project meetings as requested.

+ Assist with the organization of field equipment and notify a supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.

+ Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ ACI Field Concrete Technician Grade I Certification required

+ Construction and/or engineering experience

+ Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and applications, as well as ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.

The position requires mobility and driving. Duties involved require lifting and moving up to 100 pounds or more. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, mouse, calculator, and similar machines. Bending, reaching, standing, and walking are required. Continuously stand for up to 4 or more hours per day. Work outdoors in various weather and topographical conditions for long periods. Outdoor temperatures can range from above 100 degrees F to below zero degrees F.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
