    We are seeking a self-motivated NGS Laboratory Specialist with hands-on experience in NGS-library preparation and sequencing, preferably on industry-leading platforms like Illumina. The candidate should be well-versed in working with and troubleshooting automated workflows using systems such as Perkin-Elmer liquid handlers. A strong background in molecular/cell biology and genetics is required, along with the ability to design and execute experiments using molecular technologies. Skills in protocol development and troubleshooting are highly preferred.

    Responsibilities

    + Interact with supervisors and Senior Managers as well as Project Managers.

    + Utilize Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) knowledge effectively.

    + Demonstrate foundational understanding of molecular biology skills including DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, PCR, and microarray techniques.

    + Support team leads and junior technicians to ensure timely project execution.

    + Help implement quality control processes throughout the laboratory.

    + Maintain associated instruments in good working order, including supply and consumable maintenance.

    + Keep laboratory records in accordance with company guidelines.

    + Understand laboratory requirements and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

    + Collaborate effectively in a team environment.

    + Exhibit proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

    + Demonstrate strong time management and project management skills.

    Essential Skills

    + Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology.

    + Proficiency in lab skills such as pipetting, PCR, and Next Generation Sequencing.

    + Minimum of 1 year of post-graduation industry experience in molecular biology.

    + Proven experience as a Lab Technician or in a relevant position.

    + Experience in operating both electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.

    + Working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, and database management.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience working with Biosafety cabinets.

    + Troubleshooting skills in a laboratory environment.

    + Experience in qPCR, sequencing, analyzing sequencing data, and cell culture, particularly with human iPSC cells.

    Work Environment

    The role involves working in a laboratory setting focused on biobanking, bioprocessing, and analytics, with operations since 1999. You will handle incoming samples of DNA, blood, stool, urine, etc. Shifts are available through the IBX tracker. The organization is notable for being FDA-approved for saliva testing, contributing to health crisis management.

    This is a Contract position based out of Piscataway, New Jersey.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
