Job Title: Sr. Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The role involves production process engineering in a low to mid-volume job shop environment, with a focus on metals and material grades, specifically carbon steel. Experience with rubber products is beneficial. The position requires expertise in welding, machining, and assembly fixture design, as well as automation integration, operation, and support, including robotics, hydraulics/pneumatics, and custom systems.
Responsibilities
+ Design and implement welding, machining, and assembly fixtures.
+ Integrate and support automation systems including robotics and hydraulics/pneumatics.
+ Conduct CNC machining, broaching, and grinding operations.
+ Perform GMAW welding of carbon steel up to 1” thick and maintain knowledge of AWS and general weld quality requirements.
+ Apply QMS knowledge for risk management and customer satisfaction, including ISO, ISIR, PPAP, warrants, sustainment planning, material compliance/certification, and product traceability.
+ Provide engineering assistance for sales and quoting activities focused on machined and fabricated parts.
+ Provide technical support for supply chain management.
+ Implement corrective actions using the 8D methodology.
+ Apply Lean Manufacturing principles.
+ Quote new parts including setup and run, contact material suppliers for quotes, and review drawings for GD&T tolerancing and design for manufacturing.
+ Size and specify new CNC and special-purpose machinery, calculate machine loads, and obtain machine quotes.
+ Process new parts through Epicor and create in-process operation drawings using SolidWorks.
+ Plan and place new equipment, including ergonomic floor layout, and obtain quotes and scheduling through to first parts.
+ Develop CNC programming and GibbsCam knowledge.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in mechanical/ag engineering, metal fabrication or design plus 10 years of work experience.
+ Strong business acumen for high-level decision making.
+ Adaptable and flexible through critical thinking and problem solving.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
+ Identify opportunities for improvement by evaluating existing equipment, vendors, and processes.
+ Provide support for quoting activities and review customer data for manufacturability considerations.
+ Interpret GD&T print requirements and integrate them into manufacturing processes.
+ Oversee specialized manufacturing processes including technical details, equipment, tooling, vendor support, safety, and employee training.
+ Conceptualize, estimate costs, design, and build fixtures with a focus on Poka-yoke principles.
+ Provide production technical assistance to resolve manufacturing challenges.
+ Develop detailed manufacturing operations and instructions for production processes.
+ Define and deploy internal process controls to assure product compliance.
+ Support existing automation systems, including troubleshooting and vendor support.
+ Outstanding organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
+ Proficiency with SolidWorks and MS Office products.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with agricultural equipment is a plus.
+ Proficiency in Draftsight or other 2D based software for floorplan visualization is a plus.
+ Knowledge in CNC programming and GibbsCam is advantageous.
+ Some travel, domestic and international, may be required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $52.00/hr.
