    About the Family & Social Services Administration:

    The Division of Family Resources (DFR) within the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) is responsible for establishing eligibility for Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits. The division also manages the timely and accurate delivery of SNAP and TANF benefits. DFR also provides employment and training services to some SNAP and TANF recipients. The division’s overarching focus is the support and preservation of families by emphasizing self-sufficiency and personal responsibility.

    Role Overview:

    This role, DFR Regional Manager, provides oversight and supervision of policy implementation and administrative functions to Local Offices within a specified Region of the Division of Family Resources. You will be involved with a variety of executive duties involving a high degree of discretion in interpretation, application and execution of all agency or department policies and programs. Your role serves as the regional authority to the Deputy Regional Manager, Local Office Managers, State Eligibility Managers, an Administrative Assistant and other staff who manage day-to-day authorizing operations at the service center level as well as full-service client offerings at the local county level. The office for this role may be located in any of the counties in the service area of southeastern Indiana: Bartholomew, Brown, Clark, Clark RCC, Dearborn, Decatur, Floyd, Harrison, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, Scott, Switzerland, and Washington.

     

    The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a related field plus four years’ experience in social services or a related field; plus at least one additional year of administrative, managerial, or supervisory experience. Thorough knowledge of the federal and state laws and regulations governing public assistance programs is preferred.

    Salary Statement:

    The salary for this position traditionally starts at $85,020.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

     

    A Day in the Life:

    The essential functions of this role are as follows:

    + Review and evaluate regional effectiveness, goal determination, and strategic planning, etc., makes recommendations for improvement.

    + Develop and coordinate plans and policies, resources, and mission as well as goals, vision, and expectations of an assigned region.

    + Provide guidance to agencies and the public regarding applicable laws and rules.

    + Supervise subordinate personnel including hiring, determining workload, and delegating assignments, training, monitoring, and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary action.

    + Monitor regional budget including revenues, expenditures, and budget projections.

    + Communicate with news and other media. responds to media questions or requests in an appropriate public relations manner.

    + Coordinate with other government officials on planning issues (i.e. federal and/or state agency directors, etc.).

    + Coordinate, review and evaluate the use of appropriate controls and standards for the region.

    This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

    + Makes sound, well-informed, and objective decisions while anticipating the impact and implications of decisions.

    + Ability to identify problems. determine accuracy and relevance of information. use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.

    + Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

    Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

    This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
