This position is responsible for leading and designing the electrical power distribution network for the auxiliary equipment of our Gas Turbine projects. The primary focus is on low-voltage systems (600V and below), including the implementation of equipment such as MCCs, LV Transformers, DC Systems, and Batteries.
Responsibilities
+ Contribute to proposals based on expressed customer needs.
+ Design solutions to match code requirements and customer specifications.
+ Utilize SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) to design the electrical power distribution network, developing single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, feeder schematics, master cable schedules, master terminations schedules, and other electrical documents.
+ Utilize SmartPlant 3D (S3D) to design the electrical power distribution system, including power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit/cable tray arrangements, and hazardous area classifications.
+ Perform calculations, sizing of equipment, cables, conduits, equipment spacing, and illumination level calculations, maintaining bill of materials, and other design duties required by the complexity of the project.
+ Prepare purchase specifications and select vendors to construct electrical packages.
+ Develop and incorporate hazardous area classification requirements, single-line diagrams, power and control schematics, wire and cable specifications, load lists, and maintain comprehensive cable schedules and electrical equipment schedules.
+ Select and specify CTs, VTs, Protective Relays, Motor Controls, Power Supplies, and DC backup systems.
+ Specify proper testing procedures per industry standards and customer requirements.
+ Establish and document standard design processes and products.
+ Simplify product designs for improved manufacturability and cost reduction without compromising quality and function.
+ Assist Sales and Marketing and Development Engineering with projects to enhance existing and develop new product schedules.
+ Coordinate and manage projects of all sizes with minimal supervision.
+ Interface with purchasing and vendors in the modification and approval of component parts and assemblies.
+ Meet regularly with vendors to ensure all technical and schedule requirements are met.
+ Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.
+ Interpret and integrate design requirements from the parent company.
+ Develop processes and procedures to ensure effective and optimized use of resources while providing high-quality design packages.
+ Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality.
+ Follow up and resolve any pending items found during or remaining after project execution up to the expiration of the warranty period.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
+ Minimum five years of technical and/or practical experience in industrial facility power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC).
+ Targeting seven or more years of professional experience.
+ Experience in the design of electrical systems.
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
+ Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, thermodynamics, and trigonometry.
+ Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
+ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
+ Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
+ Fluent in MS Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Acrobat Writer, Excel, etc.).
+ Knowledge of database, project management, graphics, technical diagrams, and flow charts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ SmartPlant Electrical expertise is a plus.
+ Experience with SmartSketch is beneficial.
+ Minimum two years or significant expertise with SmartPlant 3D in the creation of electrical trays/conduits.
+ Inclination towards computer programming languages is encouraged.
Work Environment
This position is based in the office in Lake Mary, FL, with a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days remote. Candidates must be local. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
