Job Title: Yard Worker / Driver

Job Description

A reputable service and repair shop is seeking a dedicated yard worker who will also perform delivery driving duties. This role involves supporting the repair and maintenance of diesel engines, pumps, and vac-loaders, along with material deliveries and customer interactions in the Houston area.

Responsibilities

+ Assist mechanics by transporting materials and delivering fixed pumps to customer sites.

+ Communicate effectively with customers regarding service and setup.

+ Perform general labor tasks around the shop and yard.

+ Conduct pump watch at client sites as necessary.

+ Be on call as needed to respond to service requirements.

+ In the long term, utilize a CDL to transport large pumps and rental equipment via a flatbed trailer.

Must Have Skills

+ Minimum of 5 years experience as a delivery driver.

+ Experience in industrial settings.

+ Possess a clean driving record and drivers license.

+ Ability to perform manual labor involving pumps, diesel engines, and related equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Familiarity with repair industry environments.

+ Experience with Gorman Rupp pumps.

+ Extensive industrial driving experience.

Work Environment

Work in a small, non-climate-controlled shop and a larger, organized yard with spare parts and equipment. The team includes 3 mechanics, 4 warehouse/drivers, inside sales, and an operations manager. Work attire includes steel toes, jeans, and a work shirt. Day shifts run from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm but most of the time longer, Monday through Friday, with overtime and weekend work as needed. Employees participate in a rotation of being on call one week per month, requiring service truck trips to client sites for repairs. Typical work weeks average around 60 hours+.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pearland, Texas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
