Description We are looking for a detail-oriented and communicative Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in Santa Monica, California. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the organization’s accounting operations, with a primary focus on accounts receivable and assisting with light accounts payable tasks. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in AR who thrives in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the end-to-end accounts receivable process, including managing a low volume of collections calls.

• Establish and maintain accurate billing accounts for new students and families in the financial system.

• Accurately record and process payments received through the organization’s online payment platform.

• Ensure proper application of payments to the appropriate accounts in a timely manner.

• Assist with accounts payable tasks, such as processing vendor payments and preparing checks.

• Address billing and payment inquiries professionally, working closely with families, staff, and external vendors.

• Provide support for general accounting functions and complete administrative tasks as needed.

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Requirements • At least 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, with some exposure to accounts payable.

• Proficiency in accounting software, with experience in Blackbaud or Bill.com preferred.

• Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel and general accounting principles.

• Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.

• Previous experience in an educational or nonprofit setting is a plus.
