Robert Half Legal is partnering with a major university in their search for a California-barred attorney to assist with employee and workplace investigations on an ad hoc, fully remote basis. This opportunity will allow the selected candidate to work with a reputable academic institution while utilizing their expertise in labor and employee relations.

Position Overview

The attorney will support the Labor and Employee Relations Department in conducting thorough and effective employee and workplace investigations. This role is ideal for professionals with direct experience in workplace investigations, strong communication and organizational skills, and the flexibility to adapt to fluctuating weekly workload demands.

Responsibilities:

+ Assist and conduct employee and workplace investigations, ensuring compliance with all relevant legal standards and regulations.

+ Review and analyze evidence, interview employees/parties involved, and draft comprehensive investigation reports.

+ Collaborate with the Labor and Employee Relations Department to provide legal guidance on workplace investigation processes.

+ Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working on sensitive matters.

Requirements

Requirements:

+ Active and in good standing membership with the California Bar.

+ Proven experience handling employee and workplace investigations, particularly within labor and employment contexts.

+ Strong analytical, research, and report-writing skills.

+ Exceptional organizational and interpersonal communication abilities, especially regarding sensitive situations.

+ Schedule flexibility to accommodate fluctuating weekly commitments, ranging from a few hours to up to 30 hours a week.

Work Environment

This role is fully remote and operates on an as-needed or ad hoc basis. Candidates must have access to a reliable workspace and be comfortable conducting investigations through virtual platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Direct experience conducting employee and workplace investigations in academic, corporate, or government settings.

+ Familiarity with California labor laws and workplace compliance standards.
