    Our client in East Hartford, CT, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team on a contract basis. This role is perfect for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in Federal and State Grants, reconciliations, and journal entries.     Key Responsibilities:

    + Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries.

    + Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to provide transparency into financial performance.

    + Lead preparation for annual audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure smooth processes.

    + Monitor and report on grant funding, ensuring compliance with all financial and reporting requirements for Federal and State Grants.

    + Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions, ensuring efficient and accurate operations.

    + Assist in the development and monitoring of organizational budgets, contributing to strategic financial planning.

    + Provide financial analysis and insights to support program and organizational decision-making.

    + Ensure compliance with GAAP and fund accounting standards, maintaining high levels of integrity in financial practices.

    + Mentor and support junior accounting staff in their professional development, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

    Requirements

    + Minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting, with expertise in Federal and State Grants.

    + Advanced skills in reconciliations and journal entries.

    + Thorough knowledge of GAAP and compliance requirements.

    + Previous experience with grant monitoring and reporting is required.

    + Proficiency in accounting tools and software.

    + Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

    + Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior staff.
