**Shifts:** 1st and 2nd (10-hour shifts), with overtime available on Fridays and Saturdays
**Pay Range:** $35–$40+ per hour, based on experience and qualifications
**Per Diem:** $140 per day
• Position Overview
A leading defense contractor is seeking experienced **Shipfitters** to join its fabrication team supporting high-impact naval construction projects. This role is ideal for professionals with at least 5 years of experience in shipfitting or the welding/fabrication industry. You'll be responsible for precision layout, fitting, and assembly of prefabricated components, as well as machining and welding preparation for advanced naval vessels.
• Key Responsibilities
+ Lay out, fit, align, and assemble cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bonding
+ Perform machining operations such as straightening, grinding, burring, drilling, reaming, and countersinking to close tolerances
+ Select equipment and materials based on general instructions and job specifications
+ Set up and prepare materials for welding, ensuring proper alignment and fit-up
+ Repair or rework parts distorted by welding to restore required tolerances
+ Monitor and verify product quality using statistical process control or other inspection procedures
+ Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols
+ Collaborate with welders, engineers, and supervisors to meet production goals
+ Maintain safety standards and adhere to all OSHA and company protocols
• Compliance & Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Must pass a lifelong bg check
+ Must pass a hair follicle drug test
+ Hiring based on resume
• Work Environment
+ This is a **large fabrication shop** setting, not a shipyard environment
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.08 - $44.18/hr.
