    SSI needs to add a Structural Technician to support our current list of services provided to the U.S. Navy.  This is a contingent opportunity requiring a signed letter of intent for proposal use.

    Responsibilities

    + Performs strain gauge installations in support of NAVAIR structural testing. The installation can be on an aircraft component, sub-system, or on the aircraft itself. Operate, install, adjust, and maintain computer systems, consoles, simulators and other data acquisition, test and measurement instruments and equipment, which are used to evaluate air vehicles.

    + Assists with the performance of structural testing.

    + Constructs, configures, and executes structural testing based on direction from structural test engineers and/or senior technician.

    + Responsible for the setup of all equipment associated with the execution of the test, including hydraulic lines, actuators, servo-controllers, and load cells.

    + Assists with configuration of proof tests and sets up structural testing equipment for proof testing of aircraft support equipment such as aircraft hoisting devices, engine installation hoisting devices, lifting devices used in rotary wing flight test programs, aircraft cargo hold down devices, aircraft arresting equipment, and aircraft catapult-launch equipment.

    + Assists with calibrations of strain gage installations. This position receives technical

     

    guidance, as required from supervisor or higher level-technician. Work is reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments.

     

    + Technician may provide technical guidance to lower-level technicians.

    Qualifications

    + High School diploma or equivalent.

    + Must obtain (and subsequently maintain) EWIS certification within 60 days. Government taught class may be used if available. Other Branch specific training may be required and provided.

    + A minimum of seven years of experience in performing the stated functions.
