    SSI needs to add a Machinist to support our current list of services provided to the U.S. Navy.  This is a contingent opportunity requiring a signed letter of intent for proposal use.

    Responsibilities

    + This engineering technologist and technician position manufactures parts and items of equipment from raw stock of different kinds of metals, metal alloys and other materials, through the use of machine tools and precision handwork. The work requires the set up and operation of most types of conventional machine tools such as lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills; bench, plain, or universal milling machines; shapers; planers; internal and external grinders; thread grinders; and radial drills.

    + Use of a variety of auxiliary machine tool attachments such as rotary vises, dividing heads, taper attachments, magnetic chucks, vertical milling heads, tapping attachments, rotary tables and others.

    + Perform complex setups, apply advanced GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) knowledge, and may be involved in tooling development and process improvement.

    Qualifications

    + High School diploma or equivalent.

    + A minimum of three years of experience in performing the stated functions.
