Description & Requirements
Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news, and analytics through innovative technology, quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify workflow efficiencies, implement technology solutions to improve our systems, products, and processes, and provide support to our clients.
Our Team:
The Bloomberg Data AI group brings innovative AI technologies into Bloomberg’s Data organization, supplying deep domain expertise to the development of AI-powered products. One of our key focus areas supports compliance monitoring and supervision through structured annotation of electronic communications. These annotations underpin critical policy controls, model training, and enrichment pipelines that improve compliance coverage, communication understanding, and risk detection.
Our team builds and runs scalable annotation frameworks and governance systems that help ensure compliant, high-quality datasets. We partner closely with Compliance, Product, and Engineering to develop annotation guidelines, establish review and escalation protocols, and ensure alignment with evolving regulatory and internal policies.
What’s The Role:
As a Data Product Owner, you’ll bridge policy interpretation, data governance, and AI-driven annotation operations. You’ll play a pivotal role in crafting the build and oversight of annotation programs that support compliance monitoring across Bloomberg’s communication platforms.
This role requires deep familiarity with electronic communications workflows, policy frameworks, and annotation management. You’ll drive the end-to-end lifecycle for annotation programs that enable effective supervision and risk classification—balancing compliance accuracy, scalability, and model-readiness.
We’ll Trust You To:
+ Own the build, implementation, and management of annotation programs focused on compliance monitoring of electronic communications.
+ Translate compliance policies and procedures into actionable annotation schemas and labeling guidelines.
+ Collaborate with Compliance, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure annotation efforts align with surveillance policy objectives, regulatory requirements, risk controls, and ML use cases.
+ Develop and maintain comprehensive annotation guidelines that reflect current compliance standards, communication typologies, and evolving supervision needs.
+ Be responsible for quality assurance, auditing, and validation processes to ensure annotation accuracy and adherence to policy intent.
+ Establish metrics, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms to supervise annotation efficiency, policy coverage, and guideline adoption.
+ Support the development of scalable frameworks and tooling for annotation governance, reviewer training, and guideline version control.
+ Serve as the key point of contact for compliance annotation strategy, providing domain expertise in interpreting electronic communication context and intent.
+ Partner with AI and data teams to ensure annotated datasets are optimized for model training, evaluation, and deployment in compliance applications.
+ Find opportunities for automation, workflow optimization, and improved consistency across compliance labeling programs.
You’ll Need to Have:
+ 4+ years of experience in compliance monitoring, electronic communications review, or AI/ML data management.
+ Strong understanding of compliance frameworks, surveillance workflows, and regulatory communication requirements.
+ Experience leading large-scale annotation or labeling programs with quality control and governance elements.
+ Shown ability to translate policies into structured data taxonomies and annotation schemas.
+ Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate across Compliance, Product, and Technology.
We’d Love to See:
+ Familiarity with supervised learning workflows and annotation tools (e.g., Prodigy, Labelbox, Snorkel).
+ Experience supporting or crafting datasets for compliance risk detection, NLP classification, or communications analytics.
+ Background in policy documentation, model governance, or data quality management.
+ Knowledge of Python, SQL, or related data tools for analytical validation and reporting.
+ Certification or coursework in compliance, governance, or risk management (e.g., CRCM, CAMS, DCAM).
