    Position Summary/Description:

    The PSLP Workforce Development Curriculum Engineer will work directly with the Assistant Dean of Workforce Development and within the School of Social Work Office of Community Engagement and Outreach to spearhead the design and implementation of comprehensive learning programs for pre-service and in-service social work practitioners and students at pre-college, community college, undergraduate and graduate levels. This leadership role encompasses developing innovative curricula focused on public sector social work practice and engagement with underserved populations within the social work workforce. This initiative plans to develop and offer a statewide, multi-tiered public sector service delivery curriculum to select students participating in the PSLP . The purpose of this curriculum is to spark interest in pursuing public sector career opportunities and, for those already engaged in the social work workforce, to add a credential to enable career advancement and acquisition and competency of advanced skills. The Public Sector Service Delivery curriculum will include 5 certificate programs. Three of the certificates will target pre-service students at the pre- BSW , BSW and MSW levels and the other two certificates will target in-service practitioners at the post- BSW and post- MSW levels. Each certificate program will encompass a core set of common elements: a degree and/or curriculum enhancement to leverage foundational instruction; a tuition-free continuing education credential, with curriculum development and instructional costs incurred and covered through the initiative; emphasis on direct service; content focused on North Carolina’s critical service delivery areas; a virtual delivery model to enhance accessibility; and a co-instruction model of university faculty, agency professionals, and individuals with lived experiences. Each certificate will also include immersive, in-person learning experiences, virtual professional learning team engagement and some asynchronous online course completion.

     

    The PSLP Worforce Development Curriculum Engineer will report to the Assistant Dean for Workforce Development and will work closely with other PSLP Program Leads and Program Managers to develop, launch and implement the program’s curricula as well as lead the development and implementation of all associated assessments needed to gauge student learning and progress towards stated learning outcomes. This position will serve as team lead for the PSLP curriculum development team, consisting of the 2 PSLP Curriculum Coordinators, the PSLP Secondary Education Program Manager, and the Workforce Resilience Program Manager. This position will also lead the PSLP Curriculum, Certificate and Training Committee and provide support to several other PSLP workgroups and external stakeholder groups.

     

    This position will be located in Chapel Hill NC and will require up to 25% travel to in-state NC human services organization and partnering NC Social Work Coalition universities. Additional travel may include participation in state and national conference presentations.

    Education and Experience:

    Master’s degree in social work, human services, educational psychology, education or related field of study

     

    Experience using data to evaluate program effectiveness and to develop continuous improvement/strategic action plans

     

    Ability to work collaboratively with academic institutions, government agencies, health and human services employers, and community organizations

     

    Familiarity with North Carolina’s social service systems and public sector workforce needs

     

    Experience designing or managing certificate programs or non-degree educational credentials

     

    Knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theories

     

    Experience working in a university or higher education setting.

     

    Familiarity with current trends and challenges in workforce development and social work education

    Essential Skills:

    Experience in curriculum development, training and/or workforce development for helping professionals

     

    Experience developing, implementing and tracking measures of student learning

     

    Experience using student assessment data to inform continuous improvement of educational training and curriculum materials

     

    Proficiency in online learning platforms and digital tools for virtual program delivery (eg. Zoom, Teams, Mentimeter, BigBlueButton)

     

    Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are required

     

    Demonstrated experience in leading interprofessional and multidisciplinary teams

     

    Ability to work both independently and collaboratively without immediate direct supervision

    Ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively with diverse workforce populations, stakeholders and settings

    *Working knowledge of the content and practice skills associated with the 5 critical service domains (child and family services, mental/behavioral health, IDD , adult and aging populations, justice-involved populations)
