    Position Summary and Purpose: The Director of New Machine Sales leads the sales team, including sales leaders and the global accounts team, to drive revenue growth and market share for metal fabrication equipment in North America and globally. This role develops and executes strategic sales initiatives, fosters customer relationships, and aligns with company goals to achieve sales targets and promote continuous improvement.

    Essential Functions

    + Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a North American sales strategy to achieve CI New Machine revenue goals, focusing on key verticals such as sheet metal fabrication, automotive, and aerospace.

    + Team Leadership: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales managers, including sales leaders, individual contributors, and Key Account Managers.

    + Establish and Manage KPI’s – Establish and manage KPI’s to drive our sales organization. These include funnel size, close rates, sales productivity, and velocity.

    + Business Development: Identify and cultivate new business opportunities in the metal fabrication and adjacent markets.

    + Customer Relationships: Build and maintain long-term relationships with strategic customers and internal stakeholders.

    + Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work with Engineering, Product Development, and Marketing to align machine tool offerings with customer needs and industry trends.

    + Sales Cycle Management: Oversee sales teams managing complex capital equipment sales cycles, from lead generation through proposal, negotiation, and post-sale support.

    + Pricing and Contracts: Collaborate on pricing strategies, margin targets, and contract terms to align with company objectives.

    + Market Analysis: Analyze market dynamics, customer data, and competitor activity to guide strategy and decision-making.

    + Industry Representation: Represent the company at trade shows, technical conferences, and industry associations relevant to machine tool manufacturing.

    + Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sales processes and team performance.

    + Order and Customer Coordination: Manage order entry teams ensuring production forecasts are created and met.

    Work Experience

    + Required Experience: 7+ years in capital goods sales and sales management, ideally in metal fabrication equipment.

    + Skills: Strong leadership, inspirational, customer orientation, analytical thinking, and familiarity with E-Business activities.

    + Lean Practices: Commitment to lean practices and continuous improvement.

    + Performance: High energy and personal performance standards, with a commitment to company values.

     

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

     

    + Physical Demands: Occasionally stand, walk, sit, and use hands for objects/tools. Requires specific vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment).

    + Work Environment: Moderate noise level.

    + Travel: Up to 50% annually, including trade shows and customer visits.

    Education

    + Required: Bachelor degree in business, marketing, engineering or related field.

    + Preferred: Master’s in Business Administration (MBA).
