Job Title: Senior Finance Director
Job Description
The Senior Finance Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive, accurate, and timely financial management system for the organization. This includes oversight of internal financial controls, accounting systems, budgeting processes, financial reporting, and strategic financial planning. The Senior Finance Director ensures the organization’s financial health and sustainability through effective management of reporting, forecasting, compliance, and performance metrics. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and leads the Finance Department.
Responsibilities
+ Direct supervision of key finance team members, including roles such as Director of Finance, Billing Manager, and Billing Assistant.
+ Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and accuracy within the Finance Department.
+ Serve as the primary financial advisor to executive leadership on all financial matters.
+ Oversee preparation and management of annual operating budgets in collaboration with department leaders and executive leadership.
+ Evaluate business models and new opportunities aligned with organizational strategy.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and funding requirements, implementing systems to maintain adherence.
+ Analyze and communicate financial data to support planning, evaluation, and operational decision-making.
+ Assess financial risks and opportunities to strengthen short- and long-term financial positioning.
+ Maintain expertise in accounting principles, tax implications, and regulatory requirements impacting financial operations.
+ Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, and overall financial reporting functions.
+ Oversee preparation of internal and external financial reports, including those required by regulatory agencies, funding sources, and financial institutions.
+ Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders and funding entities to support contractual and service arrangements.
Essential Skills
+ Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and financial operations across complex organizations.
+ Minimum of 7 years of progressive financial leadership and supervisory experience.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead a finance team and drive departmental goals aligned with organizational objectives.
+ Collaboration with executive leadership to implement strategic initiatives.
+ High motivation for continuous learning and improvement within financial processes and systems.
+ Ability to work effectively as part of a team, adapting to organizational priorities and evolving needs, while fostering an inclusive environment across diverse backgrounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
+ Experience in nonprofit financial management.
+ Proficiency in financial analysis, financial reporting, budgeting, and financial planning.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
