    Join Microsoft Copilot’s Search Quality team as a **Senior Product Manager** , where you’ll help define the future of workplace search experiences for millions of enterprise users. In this highly strategic IC role, you’ll help advance the quality of the search and retrieval stack for Copilot across workplace entity types including files, emails, meetings, messages, and people. You’ll be responsible for integrating the latest search, ranking, and evaluation technologies, ensuring Copilot remains at the forefront of enterprise productivity and information discovery.

    Responsibilities

    Contribute to the Search Stack:

    + Contribute to the technical vision for Copilot’s search and retrieval architecture, identifying and integrating state-of-the-art technologies (including semantic search, RAG system optimization, LLM-mediated search, and evaluation frameworks) to deliver best-in-class search quality.

    Drive Technology Adoption:

    + Continuously evaluate emerging trends in search, retrieval, and AI/ML, and champion their adoption into Copilot’s core systems. Influence technical direction and search quality standards across modalities and content types.

    Design Evaluation Frameworks:

    + Develop and refine robust evaluation methodologies and metrics to assess search performance, relevance, and user satisfaction. Leverage quantitative analysis and user feedback to guide improvements.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    + Partner with engineering, data science, product management, and UX teams to identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives, and deliver impactful enhancements to Copilot’s search experience.

    Communicate and Influence:

    + Present technical strategies, results, and recommendations to stakeholders, driving alignment and continuous improvement across the organization.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years of experience in product/service/program management or software development

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + 2+ years of experience working training/evaluating search/information retrieval systems as Product Manager, Software Developer, or Data Scientist.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + Experience delivering results through collaboration across disciplines, time zones, feature teams, and partners

    + Ability to bring AI/ML systems to life by translating the relationship of the AI/ML component to user behavior and user impact

    + Ability to define metrics that represent success for the customer or business, and evaluate feature impact and inform next steps.

     

    Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
