**VCA Colonial Animal Hospital** is seeking an experienced Surgical Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing advanced care and management of patients in a specialty setting. This is a wonderful opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant who desires a challenge and the opportunity to grow and contribute to a collaborative team. The successful candidate will provide high quality veterinary medicine and patient care to both the general practice and emergency service —with guidance and mentorship from our LVT team

+ Assisting Veterinarians with appointments

+ Make sure all the appropriate bloodwork and workup is available to surgeon for appointment

+ Weigh patient and bring to exam room.

+ Obtain patient history and start specialized surgery exam record in the computer

+ Generate and or review estimates for surgery and procedures

+ Assist DVM with physical exam

+ Clean exam room

+ Bring patients to surgery prep for bloodwork, put in cage, hand technician filled out check list, write patient on white board.

+ Complete examination in record with DVM.

+ Assisting morning surgeon with SOAPs

+ Enter SOAPs into computer

+ Give owners updates and schedule discharges

+ Discharge instruction generation

+ Fill medications gather belongings

+ Discharge patients

+ Referral letter generation

**Compensation:** will vary with experience $20 - 22 / hr

**Schedule:** (4) Ten hour work days
