    About the position

     

    Job Appointment: Full time

     

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM (4 x 10-hour/week alternate schedule may be available after training)

     

    Work Location: Training period: full-time onsite Justice Center, 1111 SW 2nd Avenue, Portland, OR 97204; After completion of training: hybrid - 20 hours a week; 20 hours remote. Remote work must be performed within Oregon or Washington.     Position Summary

    This position serves as Portland Police Bureau (PPB)’s Compliance Coordinator, organizing and facilitating all of PPB’s compliance and implementation activities related to the Settlement Agreement between the City of Portland and the United States Department of Justice (DOJ). The position facilitates the provision of all data, documents, materials and access to PPB for the DOJ and the monitor. This includes gathering and collating data, scheduling meetings, and preparing reports.

     

    The City of Portland is under a settlement agreement with the Federal government that requires certain reporting of data and information, site visits and other activities required. This position is responsible for gathering, compiling and putting together the data and information needed for the reporting requirements as well as arranging all site visits and other touch points with the appointed monitor,

    Applicants must describe in their supplemental question responses and résumé how their education, training, work experience and/or lived experience, meets each of the following minimum qualifications:

    + Knowledge of principles and practices of business communication and program administration

    + Skill in customer service and conflict resolution

    + Skill in negotiating with representatives of regulatory agencies to resolve technical and/or compliance issues

    + Ability to communicate clearly, logically, and persuasively, both verbally and in writing; prepare concise and comprehensive reports, correspondence, and other documents

    + Ability to analyze, interpret, explain, and apply relevant laws, regulations, ordinances, policies, and procedures

     

    Applicants must also submit a writing sample, which will not be reviewed until after the Eligible List is established. Please ensure that the writing sample is no longer than three (3) pages.

    Although not required, you may have one or more of the following:

    + Course work from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, or field related to organizational unit or Bureau/Office;

    + Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience involving analysis, planning, organizing, and/or evaluating programs in a public agency or customer service related field.
