Role and Scope of Position:
The Associate Data Engineer will be part of the Data Innovation Team under the Substation and Transmission Line Engineering organization at Eversource\. The Associate Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data pipelines and infrastructure that support the department’s data analytics and data science initiatives\. The incumbent should have a background in data engineering and should be comfortable working with large and complex datasets\.
Essential Functions:
+ Work with substation and transmission engineering groups to develop and support critical business solutions and projects, including defect identification, asset management, circuit patrolling, etc\.
+ Design and implement scalable and efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and store data from various sources\.
+ Build and maintain data infrastructure, including databases, data lakes, and data warehouses\.
+ Support and develop architecture for automated train\-test\-deploy on cloud
+ Design and develop data visualization dashboard to showcase trends and patterns in device operation, asset management, and system status
+ Clean, preprocess and prepare image data for use in machine learning models and implement data quality checks, such as image resolution and image tagging, to ensure the data is accurate and usable\.
+ Develop and maintain documentation for data pipelines and infrastructure\.
+ Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and design appropriate data structures and pipelines to support their work\.
+ Monitor and optimize data pipelines for performance and efficiency\.
+ Work with data governance and security teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies\.
+ Support in various applications of: intelligent overloading, dynamic ratings, failure mode and incipient faults, cyber and physical security enhancement, online testing/parameter estimation, performance monitoring and insights, opportunities in digital substations, leverage IED and SCADA data for operational problems prediction, or outage management, etc\.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

+ Knowledge of data management best practices\.
+ Exceptional written and oral communication skills\.
+ Ability to use PC desktop applications \(e\.g\., Excel, Access, ORACLE, and SAS\)\.
+ Experience with programming/scripting languages \(e\.g\., SQL, R, and Python\)\.
+ Work includes data entry, data manipulation, data analysis, technical writing, editing, planning, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, designing, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing, and presenting\.
_Education:_
+ Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science or related quantitative field\.
+ Advanced degree preferred\.
_Experience:_
+ 0\-3 years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role\.
+ Experience with scripting languages such as R, Python, or a similar language\.
+ Experience with data pipeline and data integration tools \(e\.g\., Apache Beam, Apache Spark, Apache Flink\)\.
+ Experience with SQL and database technologies \(e\.g\., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift\)\.
+ Experience with data storage and processing technologies \(e\.g\., Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Impala, Parquet\)\.
+ Strong analytical and problem\-solving skills\.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills\.
+ Understanding of technology platforms including FME, Integromat/Make & Power BI is preferred\.
+ Knowledge of or experience working with utility companies is desirable\.
Working Conditions:
+ Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required\.
+ Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary\.
