    _Lead Cardiac Sonographer_

     

    _Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia_

     

    _Full Time, Days (7:30AM to 4PM; including ever fourth weekend of the month and some holidays. On call required)_

    Job Summary:

    The Lead Cardiac Sonographer supervises the department which performs diagnostic, non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams on patients using ultrasound testing equipment to evaluate the heart. The testing modalities include Transthoracic Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, and Cardiac Stress testing.

    Essential Functions:

    + Assists in overseeing, scheduling, and coordinating the sonographers of vascular department.

    + Interview, terminate and conduct job performance reviews for associates.

    + Input data for associates time and attendance, including making any changes needed in the time keeping system.

    + Perform all essential job functions of a Registered Cardiac Sonographer.

    + Demonstrates ability to proficiently perform non-invasive and invasive cardiac exams.

    + Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac anatomy, exam procedures, and interpretation of results.

    + On call hours required.

    Education:

    + Associates degree in an applied health science field with a concentration in cardiovascular technology, ultrasonography or other related study (preferred)

    Licensure/Certification:

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (required)

    + Required credentialed in echocardiography by one of the following organizations:

    + Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)

    + Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)

    Experience:

    + One year of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (required)

    + Two years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer (preferred)

    + EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience (preferred)

    + Picture archiving communication system (PACS) experience (preferred)
