    Agency Summary

    The mission of the Marion County Community Corrections Agency is to improve the lives of people in our community. Our role is to provide community supervision, as an alternative to incarceration, using evidence-based practices and comprehensive case management.

    Job Summary

    This position is responsible for enhancing public safety and raising client accountability by utilizing evidence-based practices and client home visits in the field. This position will conduct random home and employment visits for up to 40 clients/day to assess compliance with current policies and court orders. Incumbent will be an extension of case management and may contribute toward the dosage addressing an identified criminogenic need. Position will apply and document agency approved incentives and sanctions, is responsible for monitoring clients in accordance with equipment and electronic monitoring alert policies and assists with monitoring client behaviors while investigating for device tampering. The incumbent has the ability to offer recommendations in instances of non-compliance. This position will log and prepare daily mileage reports for statistical data and is responsible for scheduling routine vehicle maintenance. Position will be in an on-call rotation 24-hours a day, seven (7) days a week to assist clients on electronic monitoring equipment during medical emergencies. Position reports to the Supervisor, Community Supervision.

    Position Responsibilities

    + Monitor activities of up to 40 clients/day while ensuring compliance with rules and conditions of the sentencing court and policies of Marion County Community Corrections (MCCC) through the use of evidence-based practices

    + Address and assist in correcting/resolving equipment violations while in the field with clients.

    + Perform all duties in an ethical and professional manner.

    + Conduct on location field in-home and employer visits for up to 40 clients/day under community supervision.

    + Accompany sex offender case managers during client home visits, as they search electronics (iPad, cellphones, desktop computers, etc.) for prohibited access or prohibited content.

    + Accompany behavioral health team case managers as they conduct home visits with clients suffering from severe and persistent mental illness.

    + Perform victim welfare checks upon request.

    + Consistently ensure the safety of the field team staff and surroundings in the community

    + Maintain car maintenance and prepare daily mileage reports for statistical data.

    + Position requires flexibility in scheduling of daily activities and events, ability to work in inclement weather and knowledge of neighborhood resources.

    + Serve in an on-call rotation and respond to 24-hour/7 day per week client medical emergencies.

    + On a daily basis Interview, obtain and document client information accurately.

    + Demonstrate pro-social modeling when interacting with clients.

    + Utilize the Eight Principles of Effective Intervention in daily duties while working with clients.

    + Utilize positive reinforcement in an attempt to reinforce and achieve repeat prosocial behavior.

    + Attend, testify, and represent the agency in court proceedings.

    + Attend trainings and professional development opportunities to remain current in evidence-based practices (EBP) implementation and research.

    + Attend regular staff meetings and confer individually with the supervisor of clients/case managers.

    + Maintain agency-issued equipment, clothing, and any other items the position is required to use in performance of duties.

    + Document all correspondence with the public regarding MCCC clients from the courts, treatment providers and/or other outside sources.

    + Ensure open communication with employers and service providers.

    + Respond to voicemails, emails, and resident message cards in a timely manner.

    + Confidentiality is to be maintained at all times.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Job Requirements and Qualifications

     

    Associate degree in criminal justice or a related field with two (2) years of experience in the criminal justice system. An equivalent combination of education, training, criminal justice and/or security skills experience required, in the absence of a degree. Must not have been convicted of a felony. Must become oleo-resin capsicum (OC) spray certified or have been previously certified with documentation. An optional taser certification may be obtained or a previous certification may be presented for consideration. Must become Crisis Intervention Team trained within a year of being hired. Ability to effectively investigate, interview, and work with clients to ensure completion of court ordered or agency requirements. Knowledge of standard policies and procedures of MCCC, the local judicial process, and local service providers/neighborhood resources. Knowledge of and utilization of evidence-based practices and motivational interviewing skills. Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, with clients, their supporters, as well as members of the criminal justice system in a courteous, professional manner. Ability to maintain accurate and complete statistical and client records. Ability to comprehend and correctly use a variety of informational documents including criminal records, pre-sentence investigation reports, progress reports, psychological reports, medical reports, and additional computer systems/data bases, including electronic monitoring software. Ability to work effectively in a field car and in an office environment. Ability to adapt to a degree of stressful and at times unpredictable situations, as a result of working with what may be difficult clients in the community and/or during occasional inclement/hazardous weather conditions. Ability to utilize emotional intelligence when interacting with people of all backgrounds and deliver information effectively and decisively. Must be 21 years of age. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office.

     

    Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications

     

    Three or more years of experience as a financial professional. Prior professional experience in government or non-profit employment.
